What Automatic Barriers Are Used For
An automatic barrier controls which vehicles come onto a site, and when. It stops unwanted parking, keeps a yard secure during working hours, and lets residents in while keeping everyone else out.
A rising arm barrier opens quickly and suits busy entrances. Where the whole boundary needs securing, we also fit electric gates.

Roger Technology is the automation we use on our barrier installations. Their brushless motors are built for frequent operation and run smoothly, so they cope well where the arm is moving all day.

Car Park Barrier Installation, Including the Civils
A barrier is only as good as the groundwork under it. We handle the whole job, so one company is responsible from the first dig to the finished system.
Foundations
A concrete base is set for the barrier cabinet, sized for the barrier and arm length.
Ducting & Cabling
Ducts and cables for power, loops and any keypads, readers or intercom posts.
Vehicle Loops
Cut into the road surface, sealed, then set up to detect vehicles.
Commissioning
The barrier, loops and access control are programmed, tested and handed over.
ANPR, Keypads, Fobs and Intercoms
How people get through the barrier matters as much as the barrier itself. Most sites use automatic entry for regular users and a way for visitors to ask to be let in.
ANPR Barriers
Cameras read number plates and open the barrier for vehicles on your approved list.
Keypads & Fobs
A code or a fob for regular users. Users can be added or removed when people start or leave.
Intercom & GSM
Visitors speak to reception, the site office or a resident, who opens the barrier. GSM units can ring a mobile.
Push Button & Remotes
Manual control from a reception desk or security office, or remotes for a small number of users.
If the site already has an intercom or access-control system, it can often be connected to open the barrier. We check what you have during the survey.
Vehicle Detection and Safety
A barrier arm moving across a road has to be set up properly. Loops in the road detect a car approaching, and detect a car sitting under the arm so the barrier won't close on it.
The rest of the safety equipment depends on the entrance: how close pedestrians are, how vehicles approach, and whether traffic runs both ways. We look at this at the survey.

Can you add ANPR to the barrier?
Yes. ANPR can open the barrier for approved vehicles, alongside fobs, keypads or an intercom for other users.
Will it work with our existing intercom or access control?
Often, yes. We check your existing system during the survey and tell you what can be connected.
What happens if the power goes off?
The arm can be released and lifted by hand. Battery backup is available on many barriers, and we'll talk through whether it suits your site.
Do you do the groundwork yourselves?
Yes. Foundations, ducting, cabling and loops are all part of our installation.
