A bespoke automated sliding gate project in Calshot, combining heavy-duty steel fabrication, decorative detailing and Roger Technology automation for an exposed coastal entrance requiring strength, reliability and a premium finished appearance.
Bespoke Steel Fabrication
for a Coastal Entrance.
The Pilots Calshot project required a substantial automated sliding gate system built for daily use, exposed weather conditions and a clean residential finish. The design combined heavy-duty steel construction with decorative scrollwork to create a secure entrance without losing the visual character of the property.
Perimeter Fencing and Gates fabricated the main gate frame in-house, allowing the structure, detailing, drive equipment and final installation requirements to be planned as one complete system.
This project supports our wider work in electric gates in Hampshire, where the gate, automation and commissioning process all need to be specified together from the outset.
Structural Build, Decorative Detailing
& Final Assembly.
Fabrication focused on strength, alignment and durability before the system moved to site. The welded steel frame provided the core structure, while decorative detailing was integrated to create a more refined architectural finish.
Heavy Gate Handling
& Track Alignment.
The size and weight of the sliding gate required careful handling during installation. A telehandler was used to lift and position the gate safely, allowing the team to place the gate onto the track system under controlled conditions.
Once positioned, the installation focused on accurate alignment and smooth travel across the full span. This stage is critical on automated sliding gates because small alignment issues can increase strain on the motor, rack, track and supporting hardware over time.
Roger Technology Automation
with Safety Commissioning.
The gate was completed with Roger Technology automation, selected to provide reliable automated operation for a substantial sliding gate. Final setup included movement calibration, operating checks and safety commissioning before handover.
This type of project demonstrates why gate automation should be planned around the gate structure, entrance layout and final operating requirements, rather than treated as a separate add-on.

& Ready for Daily Use.
The completed gate system was checked for smooth travel, safe operation and reliable day-to-day use. This included final automation setup, operating checks and handover of the finished powered gate system.
