Automatic Barriers & Vehicle Access Barriers in Andover
Andover's warehouses and distribution sites run on frequent vehicle movements. We install automatic barriers built for that kind of use, with ANPR, intercoms and loop layouts planned for HGVs, vans and staff traffic.

Barriers That Keep Up With a Logistics Site
Andover's position on the A303, with the A34 and M3 within reach, has made it a significant warehousing and distribution location. Walworth Business Park and the Walworth Industrial Estate sit beside the A303 on the east of the town, including large logistics buildings at Logistics City, while the Portway estates lie to the west.
Entrances on sites like these can see vehicles arriving round the clock: HGVs on delivery slots, vans heading out on rounds, and shift workers arriving together. A barrier on that kind of entrance has to be fast, reliable and built for a high number of operations. That's why we start with how often it will be used.

- ✓Separate HGV and car routes
- ✓24-hour sites with remote access

Choosing a Barrier for Heavy Use
Every barrier motor has a limit to how much work it can do. On a busy logistics entrance, a barrier that's too light will wear quickly or stop. We use Roger Technology barriers with brushless motors designed for frequent operation, and we size the model and arm to the opening and traffic.
We also look at opening speed, because a slow arm causes queues at shift changes, and at whether entry and exit should be split into separate lanes so traffic keeps moving.
- ✓Rated for high numbers of operations
- ✓Opening speed matched to the traffic
- ✓Separate entry and exit lanes where useful
- ✓LED-lit arms for 24-hour sites
Access for Hauliers, Fleets and Staff
Logistics sites usually need several access methods on one entrance.
ANPR
Recognises staff cars, company vans and regular hauliers, and keeps a record of entries.
Intercom
Drivers not on the list call the gatehouse or transport office.
Fobs and keypads
For staff and contractors.
Push button
Manual control from a gatehouse or goods-in office.
ANPR needs a reliable network connection at the barrier. We check this at the survey.
Loops and Safety for HGV Entrances
Long vehicles need detection laid out for them. Safety loops are positioned so the arm can't close while an HGV or trailer is still underneath. Exit loops let vehicles leave without stopping, and approach loops can trigger readers or cameras.
Photocells add protection, radar or laser detection can be specified where loops aren't suitable, and traffic lights give drivers a clear signal on busy or single-lane entrances. Every installation follows a site-specific risk assessment, and we are Gate Safe Accredited.

Andover Barrier FAQs
Our distribution site runs 24 hours. Can a barrier keep up?
Yes, if it's specified for the number of operations. We use brushless barriers designed for frequent use, and can split entry and exit to keep traffic moving.
Can ANPR recognise our hauliers' trailers or only the tractor unit?
ANPR reads the plate it's set up to see, usually the front plate of the vehicle. We'll discuss the right camera position for your traffic at the survey.
Will installation stop our yard working?
We plan the groundwork in phases where possible so the site can keep operating, and agree timings with you.
Do you cover the villages around Andover?
Yes, including Weyhill, Thruxton, Abbotts Ann, Charlton, Whitchurch and Stockbridge.
Is groundwork included?
Yes. We do the civils, and the quote lists exactly what's included.
What does it cost?
It depends on the barrier, access control and groundwork. We give a written quote after a free survey.
