Passage Lane
Warsash Project.

Bespoke gate installation at Passage Lane Warsash, engineered to operate safely on a steep downhill gradient. This project required careful design and fabrication to control movement, incorporating mechanical safety features to ensure smooth, controlled operation without compromising reliability.

Workshop Fabrication
& Structural Build.

Fabrication for the Passage Lane Warsash project was completed in-house to ensure the gate structure could handle both its own weight and the demands of operating on a sloped driveway. All key joints were fully welded to maintain long-term strength and reliability.

This ensures consistent performance under load while meeting recognised automated gate safety standards .

Gradient Compensation
& Gate Geometry.

Due to the steep fall across the driveway, the gate design was adapted to suit the changing ground levels. The frame was engineered with a rising profile, allowing the lower rail to follow the slope while the top line remains visually level.

This ensures the gate operates correctly without catching or binding, while still maintaining a clean, balanced appearance across the entrance.

Mechanical Safety Control

Controlled Descent
& Speed Regulation.

On a steep driveway, the weight of a sliding gate creates a natural pull downhill. Without proper control, this can lead to excessive speed, increased wear, and potential safety risks over time.

To manage this, a secondary mechanical system was integrated alongside the main automation. This acts as a constant resistance, preventing the gate from accelerating under gravity and keeping movement steady throughout the full travel.

The result is a controlled, consistent operation that protects both the gate system and the surrounding area, ensuring long-term reliability on a challenging gradient.

Final Handover
& Compliance.

The project was completed with full system commissioning and safety checks to ensure controlled, reliable operation on the downhill gradient. Particular attention was given to verifying that the gate maintained a consistent speed throughout its travel.

We specialise in automated gate systems designed to operate safely and reliably, even on challenging sites like this.
